Music direction: Half the Sky

Working with amazing artists on the music for CARE’s Half the Sky event was a fantastic experience: I teamed with India.Arie, Diane Birch and Angelique Kidjo to choose songs that fit CARE’s mission to empower women to lift themselves and their families out of extreme poverty. I also was involved in concepting and creating the event with Scott Thigpen, writing the trailers and the script, and getting to hang with fellow ativists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, Marisa Tomei and others. We recorded at the NYU Skirball Center in New York on Feb 11 and then the event was broadcast to nearly 500 theatres on March 4 in honor of International Women’s Day.
